On October 9, 2012, 15-year-old Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan was shot in the head by the Taliban in what was a failed attempt to silence her — a teenager campaigning for the right of girls to go to school.
With the generous contributions we received, in May of 2014 the foundation made a contribution of $2,000 to the Malala Fund, an organization whose mission is safe education for all girls. Our donation specifically contributes to “back to school scholarships,” including tuition, supplies, and uniforms for young girls in the SWAT valley of Pakistan who previously dropped out of school to work as child laborers.
The Malala Fund works with local and regional partners and social entrepreneurs in the most challenging places to help ensure all girls are given educational opportunities.
